HOW MUCH IS A TATTOO DEPOSIT?
Deposit: A non-refundable/non-transferable deposit is required to secure a tattoo appointment ***Please note*** APPOINTMENTS ARE NOT BOOKED IN UNTIL THE DEPOSIT HAS BEEN PAID.
The deposit amount depends on the size of the tattoo, it can be between $50-200.
Bank details for payments will be provided during our email discussion and the deposit comes off the cost of your tattoo on the day.
Please note the deposit is in place to cover the time spent doing artwork before and after hours and usually on weekends. It is in place to protect our time, as we cannot always fill a last minute cancellation appointment.
CANCELLING OR RECHEDULING YOUR TATTOO
If you need to cancel/reschedule your appointment, please give us as much notice as possible. At least 48 hours notice is required to keep your deposit valid. If you need to cancel/reschedule your appointment within that 48 hour period, a new deposit will be required to rebook.
If you cancel/reschedule an appointment more than two times, a new deposit will be required to rebook.
HOW DO I BOOK IN FOR A TATTOO APOINTMENT?
If you would like to book in please fill out the ‘submit an enquiry’ section on this web page. Please be patient, we endeavour to get back to clients asap but sometimes it may take a few days.
Please be on time for your appointment as most of the time we have other clients booked in after your appointment and if you are late, that then makes us late for our next appointment or we end up missing out on our lunch.
HOW MUCH DOES A TATTOO COST?
Our team charges per piece not per hour, unless it’s a larger piece that is too difficult to quote eg: whole sleeves, back pieces etc due to size. These are usually done session by session until finished.
A half day session can be anywhere from $600-800 depending on time eg: if I’m close to finishing then will finish it up so that session may be closer to the $800 mark but most half days are around $600. The shop minimum charge is $100.
Adam is charging apprentice rates until further notice (which is less than a senior artist) but still charging per piece so his prices/quotes will be slightly different from Dan’s.
HOW DO I PAY FOR MY TATTOO
The studio is cash only (except in the case of deposits which can be made via bank transfer) there is an ATM at the Freedom Fuel station down the road. We can do our best to give you a time estimate of the tattoo once we have all the information, but this is just a guide as many factors can determine how long a tattoo will take to complete.
We also offer Inkpay (like afterpay for tattoos). Visit the inkpay website for more infomation.
HOW OLD DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO GET TATTOOED?
To be tattooed in Queensland, you MUST be over the age of 18, regardless of parental consent. No exceptions. It is illegal to tattoo minors in QLD, each state has different laws regarding tattoo age.
Be sure to bring a current and valid photo ID with you to your appointment, not only as a proof of age but also because it is required to complete the consent form
TATTOO DESIGN PROCESS
Due to our workload, we draw for appointments the day/night before. We don’t send out designs before the appointment time but are happy to make small changes on the day if needed. Larger redraws or last minute change of mind on the design will require a new deposit and booking.
Dan will only tattoo her own designs, so reference photos are to be used as inspiration only. Our Artists will only tattoo a design they are comfortable tattooing and may recommend another artist best suited to the job if they feel your design idea is not something that falls into their style.
Dan’s style preferences are line black and grey, patternwork/mandala, linework, abstract, one or two colours with black and grey or combinations of the above.
You can see more examples of our work on our Portfolio Page, or our Facebook and Instagram pages under Wild Honey Tattoo, each artists work has their name attached to the post.
WHICH BODY PARTS DON'T YOU TATTOO?
We do NOT tattoo: lip, tongue, genitalia, eye lids/eyes, palm or sole tattoos, (these areas do not hold tattoos well), tattoos in white only ink, glow in the dark/neon.
Dan doesn’t tattoo underboob area, fingers, hands (unless it’s part of a sleeve), full/blended colour, Celtic, Biomech, or realistic portraits and she no longer does cover ups / fix ups.
Adam is learning everything and may tattoo those areas or styles, it will be a case by case basis so if you’re not sure then please ask 🙂
CAN I BRING MY FRIEND / CHILD TO THE TATTOO APPOINTMENT?
For safety, hygiene, and distraction reasons, we do not allow extra people in the tattoo procedure area.
If you would like to bring one person along for support if you are feeling a little nervous, that is fine, however they will still need to wait in the reception area and not cause distraction during the appointment.
We do not allow children (no persons under the age of 18) in the studio, NO EXCEPTIONS.
HOW DO I GET THE BEST RESULT FOR MY TATTOO?
PLEASE UNDERSTAND that we are applying your PERMANENT tattoo to the best of our ability, but tattooing is a two way street…if you MOVE during the application this can create permanent mistakes in our work! It is difficult enough working with skin but to have you move around aswell only adds to this difficulty!
THIS INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO…
- REACHING FOR YOUR PHONE OR SOMETHING ELSE
- WAVING YOUR OTHER ARM AROUND WHILST YOU TALK
- WHIPPING YOUR HEAD BACK AND FORTH
- TRYING TO CRANE YOUR NECK TO SEE WHAT WE ARE DOING (IT IS PERMANENT, YOU CAN LOOK ALL YOU WANT ONCE WE ARE DONE)
- VIOLENTLY SCRATCHING OR TEXTING
You can move if you must, but we ask that you do it in a very slow and controlled manner, everything is connected. The neck muscles are connected to the shoulder muscles, which are connected to the arm muscles and so on. Eg: when you whip your head around it pulls all those muscles not just the neck muscles and this is not isolated to just the arms this happens with every area of the body we tattoo. It might seem like a small insignificant movement to you at the time but it can be very detrimental to our art/your tattoo.
IF YOU NEED TO MOVE PLEASE LET US KNOW.
WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE GETTING A TATTOO?
- Be sure to avoid the sun prior to your appointment, as we cannot tattoo peeling or sunburnt skin. Nor can we tattoo damaged skin eg: scratches, scrapes, burns etc
- Be well rested before your appointment. It is best to have eaten a hearty meal and be well hydrated and in general good health. Bring some snacks and drinks if you are sitting for a larger tattoo. We have a fridge you are welcome to use.
- We will have our own music playing to enjoy, but you are welcome to bring a device or book etc if you are in need of distraction whilst being tattooed, though please bring headphones/earbuds to listen/watch your device as it is very distracting to our artists while they are trying to concentrate, it is also disrespectful to other clients.
- Please turn phones on silent when entering the studio as loud phone noises do not help concentration levels or steady hands
- If you prefer a more silent appointment please let us know, we generally don’t talk much whilst outlining but once that is done may sometimes have a chat depending on concentration levels. We do try and take our queues from our clients but if you are just being polite and would rather not talk that is not a problem at all 😊
- You cannot be tattooed if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking certain medications, or your immune system is compromised in any way eg: just out of hospital.
- Wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing that will allow easy access to the area being tattooed. It is best to wear dark coloured clothing to avoid any ink stains.
- We will not tattoo you if you are sick, hungover, drunk or under the influence of drugs
- We will not tolerate unacceptable, rude, discriminatory behaviour towards ourselves or other clients please be respectful of others
- Do not consume any illicit drugs or alcohol 24 hours before your booking. This can affect the tattoo process, resulting in excessive bleeding affecting the end result (may not heal as it should) and make the tattoo process much more painful. Your tattoo artist may not be able to continue the tattoo and may have to reschedule your appointment.
- Please refrain from taking any blood thinning medications including but not limited too-Nurofen, fish oil, aspirin etc for 48 hours prior to your appointment.
Ensure you are one hundred percent happy with your tattoo design and placement of your tattoo-your artist can move the stencil before the tattoo is started but not after. We will not be held responsible if you change your mind during or after your tattoo, you will be given the opportunity to move things if you would like to- let us know, it is not a problem 🙂
WHAT AFTERCARE DO TATTOOS NEED?
Your artist will go through clear aftercare instructions with you after your session, if you have any questions please ask at this time.
We will also offer an aftercare sheet to take with you or we can email it to you.
DOES GETTING A TATTOO HURT?
Tattooing is a very personal experience and everyone’s pain tolerance is different. For some people tattoos hurt more than for other people, also different areas of the body hurt more than others. Again this can be very personal, some people find it fine in an area and others find it totally different but better in another area that someone else finds more painful.
If you wish to use numbing cream please let your artist know beforehand as different brands can affect the outcome of the tattoo. Though most people find that’s it’s not as bad as they had been anticipating, if it were that bad people wouldn’t come back for more 😉
DO YOU DO TOUCH UPS AFTER I GET A TATTOO?
We offer one free touch up within 2 months of your original tattoo appointment. If booked outside of this time frame you must pay for your touch up.
Failure to correctly care for your tattoo by following the aftercare instructions can result in the tattoo not healing correctly and you will forfeit any free touch ups.
Please follow ALL aftercare instructions.
IS YOUR STUDIO LICENSED?
Yes, we are fully licensed (studio license No: 4019307) council approved, insured, and adhere to strict QLD government health regulations.
We care about the safety and care of our artists, staff, and clients. All artists are professional, qualified tattoo artists who maintain infection control certificates and hold QLD tattoo artist licenses. All artists use disposable, single use equipment for every tattoo/client.
DO YOU DO PIRECINGS?
We don’t currently have a piercer, but we will be getting one mid 2023.
Watch this space!
WHERE CAN I PARK DURING MY APPOINTMENT?
